San Angelo ISD Board Set to Approve Property Tax Rate Monday

SAN ANGELO – Trustees of the San Angelo Independent School District meet Monday evening to adopt a budget and tax rate following months of intense wrangling over huge increases in property value and new laws enacted by the Legislature to reduce local property taxes.

According to the agenda for the special meeting, the new proposed property tax rate is .81231 per $100 in property value.  Last year's adopted rate was .97201; a proposed 16 cent reduction in the rate.

As we reported earlier, some local property taxpayers were highly upset at proposed skyrocketing property values which some elected officials deemed a 'crisis.'
