Fatal Bar Fight Investigation Reveals Several Stabbing Victims & More Suspects Arrested

SAN ANGELO – More details are emerging from the investigation into a fatal stabbing at a downtown San Angelo bar over the weekend.

According to new information released Wednesday afternoon, three additional suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the fight at Whiskey River Saloon where a U.S. Marine was stabbed and killed.

According to court documents, Raymond Scott, Julian Suarez, and Anthony Giese have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury with Suarez having an added assault with a deadly weapon charge.

On October 2, 2022, an investigator with the San Angelo Police Department responded to Shannon Medical Center, located at 120 East Harris regarding several stabbing victims. Once at the hospital, the investigator learned that the stabbing and fight occurred at Whiskey River Saloon, located 125 East Concho Avenue. It was also learned that one victim, a U.S. Marine, had been killed from a knife wound to his chest from an altercation in the parking lot of the bar. On Monday, it was revealed that federal law enforcement has been called in to investigate the stabbing death of Bryce Rudisell.

At the Whiskey River Saloon parking lot, the investigator wrote that he saw broken glass and suspected blood splatter in various areas around the lot. A Sergeant with the San Angelo Police Department said there were several other victims who were triaged in the parking lot and taken to Shannon by ambulance for emergency medical treatment. The investigator went inside the establishment and spoke with a manager and the owner of the bar

The owner accessed video surveillance and the investigator saw a large fight occur inside the bar between several groups of people. The victim in this incident was involved in this fight and it was broken up by bar staff. Video from the parking lot was accessed and another fight occurred outside.

At Shannon Medical, one of the victim’s that was being treated told the investigator as he was walking out of the bar, he saw his friends being assaulted, attempted to help, and was assaulted himself. He could not identify the individuals who assaulted him.

Investigators reviewed Whiskey River surveillance video and telephone video of the altercation and a detective with the San Angelo Police Department advised that Scott was involved in the fight. Scott was seen in cell phone footage engaging in the fight in the parking lot and in the fight inside Whiskey River.

Scott was interviewed and allegedly said he was involved in the fight but had no knowledge of anyone getting stabbed outside the bar. He also allegedly said that a fight occurred on the dance floor of the bar, and it was broken up without incident. When a fight started in the parking lot, Scott told the investigator that he only engaged in a brief fight then exited the scene.

The cellphone footage allegedly showed Scott kicking and striking this victim repeatedly. Suarez, Ray Vera, the individual who has been charged with murder, and Giese also were seen in the footage striking the victim.

Suarez was seen on video striking the victim in the head with a beer mug and kicking him while he was on the ground. Giese was seen in the footage choking and hold down the victim as he was being assaulted.

This victim sustained a fractured forearm, fracture left thumb, black eye, cuts to the side of his left eye, and a concussion.

A witness said Vera was at the bar with several of his friends. After the alleged fight, Vera drove to Giese’s residence.

Giese, Suarez, and Scott were all arrested on October 5, 2022, and all three are currently inmates in the Tom Green County Detention Facility. Scott and Giese have $150,000 bonds for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and Suarez has a $300,000 bond for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Vera's bond has been set at $1,002,409 for the murder charge and lesser charges.
