SAN ANGELO – A black Chevrolet passenger car slammed into a tree outside the Econolodge on Beauregard Ave. Tuesday afternoon sending the driver to the hospital.

According to witnesses, the Chevy was traveling at a high rate of speed and for an unknown reason left the roadway and crashed into the tree.

The car was heavily damaged as was the tree.

San Angelo Police and Firefighters responded to the scene and the driver was treated at the scene then taken by ambulance to the hospital.  Authorities did to comment on the driver's condition or what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
