Cheese Steak Food Truck Fills Void Left by Popular Lone Star Cheeseburger

SAN ANGELO, TX — “Mad Messy,” a food truck specializing in Cheesesteaks, officially started serving customers today, March 27, in a familiar location.

The food truck is located near Eskimo Hut at 333 West Beauregard Ave. on the corner of Bryant and Beauregard. It replaces Tim Condon's “Lonestar Cheeseburger.”

Cheesesteaks are just some of the things on the menu. Mad Messy also serves "messy burgers," fries, french dip, chicken parm, and more.

According to information from the establishment, its “signature sauces” are among the reasons Mad Messy is distinguishable from the rest.

Now, when you are ordering at Mad Messy, you are going to be hit with an unusual question, “Wiz Wit, or Wiz Out?”

What does that mean?

According to the business, this is part of ordering an authentic Philly Cheesesteak.

"Wiz Wit" denotes a cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz and onions, while "Wiz Out" signifies the same, albeit without onions, according to the business.

“Ordering a cheesesteak in Philadelphia is an uncomplicated process,” the business states. “You approach the ordering line and utter 'Wiz Wit' or 'Wiz Out' in a swift manner, then move aside.”

So, why cheesesteaks?

According to the owner, James Pettit, he “wanted to do something different.”

“I’ve always loved a good Philly cheesesteak,” he said. “I could never find one in San Angelo the way they did them in Philadelphia.”

Before opening at this current location, Mad Messy was within the Goodfellow Air Force Base; he said he had been there for two years, beginning in 2021.

“If you don’t get your food messy, something is wrong,” Pettit said. “If you don’t come up to that window and ask for more napkins, we are not putting them together right. It’s supposed to be an experience.”

The owner mentioned that shortly, attendees should witness a change in atmosphere with the addition of exterior lighting, more seats, and live music.

The food truck will open Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to midnight and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Pettit said he wants Mad Messy to be an addition to the nightlife here in San Angelo.
