Which New Burger Joint Will Open First?

SAN ANGELO, TX – The race is on to see who will open up first; Texas Burger or Heff's Burgers.

As previously reported, on May 12, Heff's Burgers announced that they would be opening their doors on Jun. 14. Now that day has come and gone and the doors at Heff's newest building on Sherwood Way have remained closed.

Across town on Knickerbocker Rd. crews are working hard to get another burger joint open, Texas Burger. Craig Van Amburgh, President of CVA advertising, told San Angelo at the beginning of June that Texas Burger is looking to open by the end of June.

This means the race is on to see who can finish the final touches on construction, hire and train employees, and ultimately who can open up first. In San Angelo there is a shortage of food service workers that has left the restaurant industry severely understaffed. For more on the shortage see: San Angelo Businesses Struggle to Find Workers

The unemployment rate has also hit the construction industry. Heff's originally pushed back the first opening date set because of construction delays. It is unclear if the delays were due to staffing, the increased prices in materials, or funding. Currently at Heff's it seems as if the majority of the restaurant is ready to go. Inside table, chairs, and POS systems have already been set up.

At Texas Burgers crews were seen on Tuesday finishing up small details. Inside of the building light fixtures can be seen as the entire building is nearing completion.

Although it is unclear as of now who will open first, it seems that both burger joints will be open before the end of the summer.
