SAN ANGELO, TX — The Powerball jackpot is climbing towards the $1 billion mark, and a Texan has secured a $1 million win, lottery officials announced Thursday.
Despite no winners for Wednesday's $865 million jackpot, the prize is expected to increase to $935 million for the upcoming Saturday draw.
The $1 million victory came after a player in Texas correctly matched all five numbers — 37, 46, 57, 60, 66 — without the Powerball, which was eight.
The winning ticket was sold at a Kroger store in Flower Mound.
This news follows closely after a Mega Millions jackpot win in New Jersey, where a ticket for Tuesday's draw was worth $1.13 billion, ranking as the eighth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
While the Powerball jackpot remains elusive, the lottery confirmed that there were 129,798 winners in Texas for Wednesday's draw, including the $1 million prize winner.
