Body of 71-Year-Old Man Found at Brady Lake

BRADY, TX - At approximately 7:20 a.m. this morning, Brady officials pulled the body of 71-year-old Carlos Rios from the Brady Lake.

According to the Brady Police Department, yesterday, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers were notified about a truck and boat trailer that had been backed into the public boat ramp, near the southeast corner of Brady Lake. The caller said the truck was running; the trailer was partially in the water; and the boat was adrift, moving with the current away from the dock.

"Members from our police and fire departments, the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office and several Texas Game Wardens arrived on scene to investigate," said Brady Police. "Once all means to locate the vehicle/boat’s owner had been exhausted, Texas Game Wardens began a water search in the area of the boat dock. At approximately 8:30 p.m., the search had to be suspended due to darkness, with plans to bring in additional resources and begin again at day break."

After pulling the man from the lake this morning, Justice of the Peace Maggie Sawyer was summoned to the scene and pronounced Rios as deceased at approximately 8:30 a.m.

"While there is no foul play suspected, an autopsy has been ordered to assist in providing critical information related to this tragic event," said Brady Police.
