Angelo State Tennis Begins Conference Play Friday

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles tennis team returns home this weekend for the official start of Lone Star Conference play against No. 24 Cameron on Friday, March 22, and UA Fort Smith on Saturday, March 23.

The Belles recently returned from a 10-day road trip to Orlando during Spring Break, during which they went 3-0 against Sioux Falls (ASU 6 SF 1), Emporia State (ASU 7 ES 0), and Slippery Rock (ASU 5 SR 2). Angelo State Head Tennis Coach Jason Potthoff held a press conference on Monday at the Junell Center to discuss the Belles' road performance and what he expects from the ladies this weekend at the start of conference play.

Check out Coach Potthoff’s press conference below:

Angelo State will continue to lean on Letizia Corsini’s talents, especially during Lone Star Conference matchups. The 23rd nationally-ranked singles player is 10-0 so far this season and contributes heavily to Angelo State’s success week in and week out. More than that, however, Corsini is also 11-0 in doubles matches this season. If Corsini can stay healthy, the Belles national ranking should continue to rise.

Other main contributors to the Belles’ success include Christine Jevicky (9-1 in Singles) and Ayda Guler (9-3 in Singles). The leading Doubles Team for ASU is Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz (9-3), ranked No. 23 in the nation.

The first match against Cameron on Friday is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at the ASU Tennis Complex.
