Angelo State University Track Teams Prep for First Meet of '24

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Track and Field teams return to action this weekend when the Rams and Rambelles travel to Norman, OK, to compete in the Southern Nazarene Invitational on Saturday, January 20. The Invitational will be held at the Mosier Indoor Facility on Saturday.

The Rambelles’ Maricia Spence leads all of Division II in the pentathlon so far this season after she set a new Lone Star Conference record of 4,112 points at the Boo Rogers Combined Events. She ranks third overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 seconds and fourth in the long jump at 6.01 meters.

Abby Zamzow joins her teammate in the top 10 in the pentathlon in Division II with 3,792 points and is sixth in the long jump at 5.98 meters. Finally, Anna Riccomagno is sixth in the pentathlon at 3,749 points.

The Rams’ Kyle Lumpkins recorded the eighth-best heptathlon result so far this season with a score of 5,176 points.

Saturday, January 20, will be the first full meet of the year for both Angelo State teams. The Rams and Rambelles send 42 athletes, with 22 on the men’s side and 20 on the women’s side.

Field events begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the men's and women's weight throw, while the running events begin at 11 a.m. with the women's 5,000-meter run.
