BREAKING: Legendary Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Traded

NEW YORK, NY — Aaron Rodgers is now a New York Jet. The Jets announced on Monday that they have acquired the future Hall of Famer from the Green Bay Packers. The Jets have been pursuing the 39-year-old quarterback since January.

This trade might be considered a franchise-altering move for the Jets. New York hired Nathaniel Hackett (Rodgers’s old quarterbacks’ coach) as their offensive coordinator earlier this year, and it seemed to Packers fans that the writing was on the wall. Green Bay looks to move forward with Jordan Love at the helm for the Green and Gold.

The Jets finished 7-10 a season ago, but despite the poor record, the season felt on the precipice of something great. They sported the defensive rookie of the year in Sauce Gardner and the offensive rookie of the year in Garret Wilson. New York’s only question mark remained at the quarterback position. When the Jets drafted Zach Wilson in the 2021 NFL Draft, they thought they had their guy. However, poor performance and locker room comments forced the Jets to look for a better answer now. Wilson still might be the guy of the future, but for now, New York has their answer.

As for the Packers, they receive the Jets' 2023 1st-round pick (No. 13), 2023 2nd-round pick, the 2023 6th-round pick, and a conditional 2024 2nd-round pick that becomes a 1st-round if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays in 2023.

Green Bay loaded up on draft picks for this year’s draft, but replacing Rodgers is impossible. Jordan Love will finally get his chance to show what he’s capable of, but the Pack is expected to take a major step backward. They still need young wide receiver talent to help out the young quarterback. They also need a tight end after the departure of Robert Tonyan and Mercedes Lewis. While the future looks uncertain right now for Green Bay, they made the right move in getting something for the 4-time MVP.
