Eagles and Jalen Hurts Agree to Monster Deal

 

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Quarterback Jalen Hurts, and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms on a new contract for the young quarterback on April 17. Just one season after the Hurts led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance, the Eagles fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35, and the Eagles’ signal-caller is getting paid.

Hurts’ new contract consists of a 5-year, $255 million deal, including $179.304 guaranteed. The new contract makes the young quarterback the highest-paid player in average annual value in NFL history.

According to Adam Schefter, Hurts's contract includes a no-trade clause, the first in the Eagles’ Franchise history.

Hurts threw for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions a season ago and finished the year as an MVP candidate in his third year with the Eagles. Arguably his best game of the year came in the biggest game of the Eagles’ season. In the Superbowl, Hurts for 304 yards and one touchdown. He also added 70 yards, three touchdowns, and the game-tying 2-point conversion on the ground.

With this new contract, the Eagles show that they put their faith in Hurts for the foreseeable future.
