Bobcats Place 3rd in the Union Square Bulldog Classic

 

BURKBURNETT, TX – The San Angelo Central Bobcats traveled to Burkburnett last weekend, Dec. 8-10, to play in the Union Square Bulldog Classic. The Bobcats went 3-1 over the weekend and ended the tournament placing 3rd with a 12-2 record.

The ‘Cats played one game on Thursday, Dec. 8, against the Plainview Bulldogs. Central overpowered the smaller school in both facets of the game and defeated the Bulldogs soundly, 77-56, to move to the next round.

Kollin Allbright led the ‘Cats with 19 points. Christian English had 18 points.

On day two of the tournament, the ‘Cats played two games. First, Central played a much tougher matchup against the Frisco Liberty Christian Academy Eagles in the second round. After a challenging back-and-forth game, the Bobcats emerged victorious 80-76.

Christian English led the ‘Cats with 25 points, followed by Kollin Allbright with 19 points and Jaedyn Gipson with 18 points.

Central played Burkburnett High School later in the day in the 3rd round. Again the ‘Cats played a talented opponent, and both teams played great defense. Ultimately, the ‘Cats fell by three points, 59-56.

Kollin Allbright led the Bobcats with 28 points.

Out of the Championship game, the Bobcats played for 3rd place on Saturday, Dec. 10. Central returned to form, defeating the Whitehouse Wildcats 65-57 in a game where the ‘Cats dominated for four quarters. The Bobcats placed third in the Union Square Bulldog Classic with a field filled with talented teams.

Christian English led the ‘Cats with 16 points, Kollin Allbright had 14 points, and Jacob English had 12 points. 

Kollin Allbright was selected to the Union Square Bulldog Classic All-Tournament team for his performance throughout the weekend.

The San Angelo Central Bobcats (12-2) travel to Lubbock on Monday night, Dec. 12, to take on the Lubbock Cooper Pirates (9-5) at 6 p.m.
