Angelo State University Signs 15 Athletes

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University announced Thursday 15 athletes have signed a letter of intent to compete for ASU next fall.
 
"This is a good group of girls with diverse backgrounds and experience," said Head Coach of the Rambelle Soccer Team Travis McCorkle. "We've added some speed, some skill, and some feisty competitors. I'm confident they will make the sum of our team better both on and off the field."

After finishing the 2019 season in sixth-place in the Lone Star Conference at 12-5-2, ASU saw the 2020 slate pushed back to spring, beginning competition in mid-February. The Belles will graduate seven players after the spring as McCorkle is set to reload his roster heading into the 2021-22 campaign.

Here is the 2021-22 Recruiting Class for the Rambelle Soccer Team.


HOLLY HARWOOD | MIDFIELDER | 5-9 | FR | WIMBERLEY, TEXAS | WIMBERLEY HS
 
High School: A three-sport athlete at Wimberley, Harwood lettered in soccer, volleyball, and track & field as a freshman. During her sophomore year, she was named All-District and TASCO All-Region Forward of the Year while also earning All-District Honorable Mention in volleyball and qualifying in the 400-meter and 400-meter relay. Harwood was also the recipient of the All-Tournament MVP Award at the Hill Country Classic Soccer Tournament. As a junior, she was named to the All-District First-Team in volleyball and was named to the VYPE 2020 UIL Austin Girl Teams Soccer Players to Watch, but saw her season cut short due to Covid-19.
 
Personal: Daughter of A.J. and Devrie Harwood…Has one sister, Heather…Majoring in marketing.
 

MACIE JACOBS | DEFENDER | 5-7 | FR | LUBBOCK, TEXAS | FRENSHIP HS
 
High School: Competing at Frenship high school, Jacobs was named 6A Honorable Mention as a midfielder her freshman year before switching to the defensive side, earning 6A First-Team Defense as a sophomore. During her junior year, she was named Defensive MVP while earning All-Area Team Defense.
 
Personal: Daughter of Matt and Nikkie Jacobs…Has one sister, Lyndsie…Majoring in nursing and kinesiology.

GRACE JORDAN | FORWARD | 5-5 | FR | FORT WORTH, TEXAS | R.L. PASCHAL
 
High School: At R.L Paschal, Jordan earned First-team All-District during the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons. She was named the District MVP in 2019 along with earning Co-Offensive MVP. She also collected the team MVP award for her high school. While for her club team, Sparta FC 02 Elite, Jordan helped lead her team to a US Youth Soccer Regional Championship in 2018 and a second-place finish in 2019.
 
Personal: Daughter of Richard and Tina Jordan…Has two siblings, Nora and Harrison.

NATASHA SOTO | DEFENDER | 5-9 | FR | MCKINNEY, TEXAS | MCKINNEY NORTH HS
 
High School: Named the Defender of the Year as a freshman, sophomore, and junior while competing at McKinney North High School. During her junior season, Soto was also selected as the District Defender of the Year and earned Academic All-District for her work in the classroom.
 
Personal: Daughter of Phunh and Julio Soto…Has two siblings, Katarina and Thalia…Majoring in kinesiology.

SHAELYN WARD | FORWARD | 5-8 | FR | ABILENE, TEXAS | ABILENE WYLIE HS
 
High School: Lettered in soccer all four years at Abilene Wylie, captaining three of those seasons. She was a 4A regional finalist while earning All-District First-Team honors before moving up to 5A where she was named Honorable Mention and All-District First-Team. A two-sport athlete, Ward also lettered two years in track & field. In the classroom, she finished in the top seven percent of her class, earning academic honor roll all four years as a member of the National Honors Society.
 
Personal: Daughter of Charlie and Carri Ward…Has two brothers, Jonathan and Tyler…Majoring in Nursing.

LIBBY WELKER | DEFENDER | 5-1 | FR | SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS | CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN
 
High School: While competing at Cornerstone Christian, Welker was named Second-Team All-District and Academic First-Team All-District. She served as captain for three seasons while earning Honor Roll all four years as a member of the National Honor Society. Playing for her club, Corinthians FC, Welker led her team to an NSL Championships as their captain.
 
Personal: Daughter of Freddy and Kim Rodriguez…Has one brother, Cole.
