San Angelo Citizen Recognized for Heroic Action

 

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo citizen has been recognized for heroism after having to pull an individual out of a vehicle that crashed into the river.

On the San Angelo Police Department Facebook, James Sanchez was honored after he saw a truck leave the roadway on Veteran’s Memorial Drive and crash into the Concho River.

The post says:

The San Angelo Police Department would like to recognize James Sanchez for an act of heroism that took place on April 21, 2023, around 2:00 a.m.

Sanchez observed a truck leave the roadway and go into the Concho River off of Veteran’s Memorial Drive. Without hesitation, Sanchez was able to force entry into the truck, remove the driver from the vehicle, and assist law enforcement with getting the driver to shore.

Sanchez sustained minor injuries during this indicdent due to him having to break a window on the truck.

Sanchez was recognized this week by the San Angelo Police Department when he was presented with an award for his heroic actions.
