SAPD Honors Dispatchers During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

SAN ANGELO, TX – From April 12 – April 18 the San Angelo Police Department will be celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

During this week, police departments and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International honor “the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.”

Dispatchers will be encouraged to participate during the week by wearing their favorite sports team’s jersey or caps during the following days: Baseball Monday, Basketball Tuesday, Wacky Hat Wednesday, and Football Friday.

The Wall Brethren Church will be providing food items for employees on Thursday.

On Friday, SAPD will be hosting a contest to select which dispatcher decorated their locker most uniquely and creatively. The winner will receive a gift basket, and second and third place winners will receive a gift card.

As an extra special treat, Public Safety Communications Lieutenant Tim Pucci will be providing an eggplant casserole.

Those interested in receiving more information about the events or if businesses would like to contribute to the celebration, please contact Sergeant Chris Carpenter at (325) 653-4552.
