Junior League of San Angelo Distributes 144 Pairs of Shoes to Local Kids

 

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The Junior League of San Angelo will distribute 144 pairs of brand-new sneakers on Thursday, August 3 to children participating in the Boys & Girls Club summer program.

Distribution at the Northside Boys & Girls Club, 1802 North Lillie Street, will begin at 9:00 a.m. and at the Southside Boys & Girls Club, 2762 Ben Ficklin Road, at 11:00 a.m.

The Junior League of San Angelo seeks to meet the needs of students in and around the community. The effort of the Shoes 4 the Soul program is to provide children, as well as teenagers, with shoes so that they can be successful in various aspects of their lives.

It is important for children to have quality shoes to perform at their best academically and personally. According to studies, 300 million kids worldwide are without shoes, and 1.4 billion people are susceptible to diseases that could easily be prevented by a decent pair of shoes. The Junior League of San Angelo believes every child deserves a good pair of shoes.

The Junior League of San Angelo is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
