An Accidental Shooting Leaves a 13-Year-Old Male Injured

At approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, San Angelo Police were dispatched to 1802 Beacon St. after a 13-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his “the lower extremities.” A juvenile male in the same house, who was around the same age, accidentally discharged a firearm that caused the injury, said Detective Gaeta.

The detective also said there were four underage children in the home at the time of the incident; however, the owner of the home wasn’t present, nor the gun owner. Luckily, no one else was hurt.

“It was an accident, and there are no charges pending at this point in time,” Gaeta added.

The injured boy was taken to one of the area hospitals, but police did not want to disclose which one, nor did they want to disclose the type of firearm used because of the nature of the incident.

Gaeta did say though that the wound was a non-life threatening injury.

“He’s fine. He’s going through some pain,” Gaeta said. “The parents have been notified. It was just one shot. That’s all it takes unfortunately.”
