Local Emergency Personnel Announce Plans for Combined Drill

 

Angelo State University Police Department will be hosting an area wide emergency drill this Wednesday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The drill will take place in Plaza Verde Hall, Building 1, located in the 1900 blk of S. Van Buren. Those participating in the drill will include ASU Police, the San Angelo Police Department, the San Angelo Fire Department, and Goodfellow AFB.

During the drill, the public may see a large presence of emergency vehicles and personnel in the vicinity of Plaza Verde hall. This is only a drill.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Angelo State University Police Department.

Update 11:47 a.m.

Chief James Adams of the ASU Police Department explained that this drill is a follow up to a training exercise performed earlier this year meant to prepare the ASUPD, SAPD and SAFD for an active shooter situation. Tomorrow's exercise will be an effort to organize the various departments and practice working together should this type of situation ever arise.
