Midland ISD School Buses Involved in Crash on US 87 Near Carlsbad

Three Midland ISD coach buses were involved in a major motor vehicle crash on US 87 just south Beaumont Rd. near Carlsbad Friday night at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The driver of a green Pontiac Grand Am was sent to the hospital after rolling over and off the road.

DPS Trooper Diaz is the investigating officer. His investigation will require interviewing every passenger on the bus, gathering every name and parents' phone number. The cause of the crash will not be known until the investigation is complete later Saturday morning.

All three buses appeared to be full of school aged children of whom we did not observe any serious injuries. We did not obseve any major damage on any of the buses either.

The buses were seen in San Angelo earlier this evening, and our assumption is that the kids were headed home to Midland when the crash occurred.

DPS is leading the investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Grape Creek VFD, Tom Green County Sheriff, and San Angelo EMS.
