- The Texas Restaurant Association and Shannon Medical Center teamed up to give healthy options to those with diet restrictions
A new year brings a need to make a resolution, and for many, the popular choice may be to live healthier and lose weight. Because any weight-loss or healthy living plan begins often with a concentration on the diet, the Texas Restaurant Association and Shannon Hospital teamed up in 2011 to provide options for those with diet restrictions in local restaurants.
While intended for those with diet restrictions like diabetes, the choices are the healthier fares in most places. Several restaurants list these choices within the menu, citing 'lighter fare' or 'low-calorie' where it applies.
The participating Healthy Choice Restaurants make it easier for everyone to continue eating out with options. No longer will eating out be detrimental to the health of those who don’t wish it to.
Participating restaurants the following:
Carino's Italian Restaurant
Cork and Pig Tavern
Fuentes Café Downtown
Halfmann’s Cake Cottage
Kenny Blanek’s Village Café
Mathis Field Café
Miss Hattie’s Café & Saloon
San Angelo Country Club
Shannon Medical Center Cafeterias
The Market at Pinkie's
Zero One Ale House
Aside from the restaurants listed here, the Green Grocery and Cafe is anticipated to open sometime in 2014.
