Copperas Cove Man to Challenge Pfluger

COPPERAS COVE, TX — Congressman August Pfluger has no opponent in the March 5 Primary Election, but come November 5, he will face Ronald R. Medina.

Medina, who is a U.S. Army veteran who claims Pfluger hasn’t done enough to justify his tenure in office. Pfluger was elected in 2020 and will have served two, 2-year terms by December 31.

Medina claims on his “Fundraising Transparency” page that Pfluger has only sponsored two bills that have become law. Those bills, he writes, are “of little significance.” One is about minting a coin and the other condemns the DC Penal Code, he writes.

He also criticizes Pfluger for soft support of the Ukraine War and that he hid his support of aid to Israel following the October 7 attacks “behind a tax cuts for billionaires.”

Medina does not claim to have much money to finance a campaign across Congressional District 11. He wants to purchase 1,000 campaign signs and run $1,640.82 per month in billboard ads from July until October. Besides that, he needs funds to attend “Rabbit Fest” in May.

"I am a veteran. I commissioned in 2011 as an Infantry Officer from the United States Military Academy. I served in Afghanistan and played a pivotal role in the 2021 withdrawal. I am a college student pursuing nuclear engineering. I am in the US Army Reserves as a Civil Affairs Officer," states Medina's "About Me" page on his website.

Medina is running as an independent.
