Election Day Voting Returns Consistent with Early Voting

SAN ANGELO – Partial Election Day results are consistent with early voting totals Saturday evening as all three Propositions on the municipal ballot for San Angelo voters appear headed for passage and incumbent City Councilman Harry Thomas still leads challenger Michael LePak in the only contested race for City Council in SMD-3.

Early voting and absentee ballots and partial Election Day results show Thomas with 99 votes to challenger Michael LePak's 56.  That's 63.87% for Thomas and 36.13% for LePak.

Here are the results for early, absentee voting and partial Election Day for the Propositions:

Proposition A:      FOR:  780 or 69.52%  AGAINST: 342 or 30.48%
Prop A is adding job qualifications for the chief of police, which in San Angelo is an elected position. The proposition if passed will amend the city charter to require candidates for chief of police have supervisory experience and professional education.

Proposition B:      FOR 811 or 71.96%    AGAINST: 316 or 28.04%
Prob B aligns the chief of police election with the election days of city councipersons in SMD 1, 3, and 5 to reduce the number of elections and costs to the taxpayers.

Proposition C:      FOR 732 or 65.30%.    AGAINST: 389 or 34.70%
Prop C aligns the authority of San Angelo's chief of police with those powers granted by local, state and federal laws and city policies.

We will update this information as results are released.
