The first of a series of San Angelo LIVE! pre-election polls sees one candidate with a 21-point lead, and a high number of undecided voters for the upcoming mayoral election scheduled for May 9.
The one item poll asked the question, “If the election were held today, I would vote for the following to be the next mayor of San Angelo.”
Three choices were given, the two candidates, in order that the ballot will be presented, and an additional third choice for "undecided".
By a 21-point margin, relatively unknown politico David Nowlin won the poll with 50.84 percent. Mayor Dwain Morrison received 29.61 percent, and 19.55 percent were undecided.
The SurveyMonkey-powered poll was conducted by attracting a convenience sample of 358 readers of San Angelo LIVE! through three sources of traffic: Facebook, direct email, and website visitors. The poll was conducted from Thursday, March 5 until the morning of March 9. The SurveyMonkey application significantly reduced double voting through unique browser cookie matching and rejection of duplicates.
San Angelo LIVE! reaches 54,005 in the San Angelo DMA, according to Quantcast.
The election is May 9. Here are important dates for the upcoming city general election:
- March 10, 2015 - First day to apply for ballot by mail.
- April 9, 2015 - Last day to register to vote.
- April 27, 2015 - First day of early voting by personal appearance.
- May 9, 2015 - Election Day.

I don'y know who Mr Nowlin is: I do know the our present mayor is not my favorite at all.
