Severe Thunderstorm/Flood Warnings for San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for San Angelo until 9:45 p.m. Friday night.  

At 8:38 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was over Twin Buttes heading northeast.  It contained large hail and heavy rain and it was headed for San Angelo.  

At 8:48 p.m. the NWS also issued a Flash Flood Warning for San Angelo in effect until 11:15 p.m.  

Heavy rains of 2.5 inches are falling flooding streets and low lying areas.  

There are reports of heavy rains and flooding from Christoval to Dove Creek to Water Valley and north to Robert Lee.  

San Angelo Police at 9:30 p.m. reported widespread street flooding.  Witnesses report small but heavy hail in the southwest part of town and large hail near Twin Buttes and east toward Wall.  

There are reports of isolated pockets of power outages around Armstrong St. and at Lake Nasworthy and internet outages in Bentwood.  

This is a dangerous storm.  Stay indoors until it passes and do not drive if you do not have too.
