RUIDOSO, NM – A fire in Ruidoso, New Mexico that started on Tuesday has engulfed over 4,000 acres and is in no way contained.
Dubbed the “McBride Fire”, the U.S. Forest Service said crews are working on several fronts and conducting “point protection” and are securing structures in the areas of Homestead, Gavilan Canyon, and Fawn Ridge.
As of Wednesday, over 150 structures have been lost and over 4,000 people have been impacted. Mandatory evacuations have begun as 4,132 acres have burned.
Initial reports stated the fire started due to a down power line, but Forest Service now say it is unknown and currently under investigation.
