Septuagenarian Breaks World Record in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX -  The No Limits Monster Trucks & Thrill Show roared into town on Saturday.

The event featured 12-foot tall, 10 thousand-pound, 1500-horsepower national TV monster trucks.

A special feature was former San Angelo resident Big Ed Beckley, nationally known as the "World's Largest Motorcycle Daredevil Jumper," attempting a record-breaking stunt.

73-year-old Big Ed jumped his Harley-Davidson over a line of cars with Stacey Steinert as a passenger.

The jump covered the distance of about 64 feet.

“I was hanging over the handlebars,” Big Ed told San Angelo LIVE. “I didn’t know if I was going to get it stopped or not, but we did.”

He also mentioned that it was Steinert’s first time ever on the motorcycle.

At the show, Big Ed also spoke about his battle with cancer.

“At the end of December last year, I was diagnosed with colon cancer,” he said.

According to Big Ed, it was a year ago since they removed the cancer that was said to be three inches in length and about the width of a sausage.

“The best news was, I never went through any chemo,” he said. “I feel so blessed to be able to do what I am doing.”

San Angelo LIVE recorded exclusive footage of the event; watch below.
