Four Artists to Perform at 2nd Annual Luminocity Concert in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX - This year Halloween falls on a Monday, and many local event holders are celebrating the fun-filled holiday several days ahead of time in a variety of ways. Ray Valadez of the Maranatha Church, located at 2216 Sherwood Way, said, "We will be doing something a little different too: holding a concert."

The event will take place on Saturday, October 29, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., is family friendly, and free to the public.

Valadez said, "The purpose behind this gathering is a lot of times-around Halloween-there are a lot of 'dark' ideations that go along with it. We've named the event 'Luminocity' to kind of illuminate the city, and, as a church, we wanted to highlight Jesus at our concert."

"This is our second year hosting the event, and last year we had around 800 people come out," said Valadez.

Even though the building looks small from the outside, Valadez said, "It was only 1/2 full inside. We're hoping for an even bigger crowd this year."

All of the artists are Christian performers and include Grammy nominated artist 'Flame' from the St. Louis area, Dillon Chase from Oklahoma, DJ Overcomer (originally from San Angelo), and Adrion Butler out of Dallas, Texas.

Valadez noted, "DJ does a lot EDM (Electronic Dance Music), which we're hoping will attract a younger crowd."

All too often, the end of the year and holidays can be lonely times for some. Valadez added, "Volunteers from the church and pastors will be available should someone need to talk."

Additionally Valadez noted, "We plan on having some food trucks, and hopefully will be able to do door prizes. A lot of times, we hear that there's 'nothing to do' in San Angelo, and we especially wanted to reach out to families and the younger generation so they can come out and have fun too in a safe place. Just last night, we passed out over 1,700 fliers and want to let the community know all are welcome. Hopefully next year, we'll need an even bigger space!"

So mark your calendars for Saturday, October 29; tell all your friends; and get ready to feel the one true spirit at the Maranatha Church.
