Angelo State Holds Aviation Expo for Area ROTC Cadets

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University hosted over 500 Junior ROTC cadets from local and area high schools, as well as 50 fifth graders from the Starbase Goodfellow program, for an Air Force Global Stike Command - Project Tuskegee day-long event on Wednesday, October 4. 

Students participated in activities at San Angelo Regional Airport - Mathis Field and on the ASU Campus. Activities included:

 

MATHIS FIELD

Static Aircraft Tours with:

  • Military aircraft
  • Border patrol PC-12 plane and MQ-9 Reaper drone
  • Vertex Military King Air 350 ER plane
  • Civil Air Patrol Cessna
  • ASU Diamond Trainer aircraft
  • DPS aircraft
  • Goodfellow AFB Security Police working dogs

ASU CAMPUS

  • Campus Tours
  • STEM Fest highlighting Angelo State STEM programs
  • Lunch in the ASU Cafeteria

The visiting students were divided into three groups that rotated through the events throughout the day. The event started at 9 a.m. and lasted until 3 p.m. It was a great opportunity for local and area students to learn about various aircraft and potential career fields in aviation and the U.S. military.
