WARNING GRAPHIC VIDEO: Nashville PD Releases Body Cam of School Shooter

NASHVILLE, TN – The Metro Police Unit in Nashville has released body cam footage showing officers shooting and killing a school shooter.

The body cam video begins with the officers entering The Covenant School at the Covenant Presbyterian Church. The officers initially went up the stairs to the second floor but discovered it was locked.

The group continued to push through the first floor, going through school hallways, checking bathrooms, and classrooms. Eventually the crew would find another set of stairs that would lead them towards the shooter. 

After going to the second floor, the three officers in the video exchange gunfire with the shooter in a common area. The shooter was shot by officers, fell on the ground, attempted to reach for their gun again, and then was fatally shot by the officer wearing the body cam.

The shooter has been identified as Audrey Hale. Hale was 28-year-old transgender who previously attended the school. The victims in the shooting were student Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, student Hallie Scruggs, 9, a student, student Williams Kinney, principal Katherine Koonce, 60, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and 61-year-old custodian Mike Hill.
