Decades Old Child Abuse Case Ends in Plea Deal

 

SAN ANGELO— A Virginia man has taken a plea deal in San Angelo after sexually abusing a child over two decades ago.

Michael Thornburgh, 41, has taken a plea deal on four counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Indecency with a Child.

According to the indictment, Thornburgh committed aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child on November 15, 1999, January 15, 2000, and on February 10, 2000. On all three occasions, the child was under the age of 14.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Thornburgh was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the first four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and 20 years for two counts of indecency with a child. Those sentences will run concurrently.

Thornburgh was most recently arrested on December 16, 2022 for a bench warrant and for six grand jury indictments.
