Convicted Felon Indicted for Angelo Pellet Equipment Theft

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been indicted for stealing two trailers and three rugged terrain vehicles from Angelo Pellet Kubota.

Miguel Angel Serrano, 26, of San Angelo, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for theft of property between $30,000.00 and $150,000.00.

According to court documents, San Angelo police were dispatched to Angelo Pellet Kubota, located at 902 North Bell Street, regarding a felony theft investigation on March 6, 2023. An employee of Angelo Pellet Kubota said that two homemade trailers and three RTV’s, or rugged terrain vehicles, were stolen.

Officers said the southeast fence had been cut to gain entry to the property in order to take the businesses property. One employee said the trailers were valued at around $60,000. Security footage showed that the theft took place around 3:00 a.m. on March 6, 2023.

An email was sent out to all San Angelo Police Officers to be on the lookout for the stolen property.

On March 8, 2023, a San Angelo police officer contacted the investigator and told him that he believed the two stolen trailers had been located in the backyard of a residence on the 200 block of West Avenue V. The officer observed one of the trailers had an all-terrain vehicle on it and it was covered with a grey tarp. This gave investigators probably cause as the trailers matched the description of the ones that were stolen.

Investigators applied and were granted a search warrant, signed by Judge Tommy Lafon, at 8:38 p.m. and executed the search warrant at 9:15 p.m. the same day. The investigating officer was able to confirm the trailers were the ones that were stolen from Angelo Pellet Kubota. The rugged terrain vehicles also matched those that were stolen.

The officer spoke with the owner of the residence where the stolen property was located and said his son, identified as Serrano, was living there and is remodeling the house. A witness said that Serrano drove a white four-door pickup truck with chrome wheels and tinted windows.

Security camera footage was reviewed, and investigators observed a white pickup matching the description of Serrano’s that was backing up a trailer with a Kubota RTV on it. This was at around 5:48 in the morning on March 6, 2023.

Then, investigators ran Serrano’s name through a computerized criminal history and saw the Serrano was convicted of theft in June 2018. He reviewed that case and noted that the circumstances of the previous incident int June 2018 matched the theft at Angelo Pellet Kubota.

Serrano was arrested on March 16, 2023, and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility where he is currently an inmate on $50,000 bond.
