San Angelo Man Indicted for Violent Burglary at Ex-girlfriend's Residence

SAN ANGELO— A Tom Green County Grand Jury has indicted a San Angelo man for breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house and beating her new boyfriend so severely he broke the guy's jaw.

Jesus Romaldo Martinez III has been indicted for burglary of a habitation after he broke into his ex’s house and assaulted her new boyfriend.

According to court documents, on January 7, 2023, San Angelo Police responded to an incident at the 600 block of East 38th Street. Once on scene, the officer made contact with one of the victims who reported her ex-boyfriend, identified as Martinez, had entered into her house without her consent and assaulted her current boyfriend.

The report says the boyfriend has sustained several blows to the head by Martinez. The incident took place inside the master bedroom of the home where the officer observed blood covered furnishing and damage to the room. He then took photographs of the room which were reviewed by investigators.

The investigator noticed damage to the drywall of the house and several of the observations made were consistent with what was reported by the victims.

The boyfriend who was assaulted was contacted by an officer and corroborated the statements made by his girlfriend. The officer saw that the man has been injured recently, namely to the face and head. Photos were taken of the boyfriend and the injuries were consistent with that of an assault.

Investigators contacted the burglary victim again who stated she and Martinez shared a relationship for a few years and prior to the incident, she had received multiple phone calls from Martinez which she ignored.

A follow-up interview with the boyfriend who was assaulted was conducted. It was noted that he had fresh scarring to the left portion of his forehead and bruising to his left eye. He also required surgery to his jaw. Investigators learned that he suffered two fractures to his jaw and had a plate surgically inserted to mend the injury and that his jaw was wired shut.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on January 20, 2023, for burglary of a habitation. He posted a $75,000 bond the next day.
