Chicago 'Gangster' Nabbed with $100K in Cash & Cocaine on a Texas Highway

 

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Public Safety seized over $100,000 in cash and four grams of suspected cocaine after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County. 

Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2019 Buick Envision traveling west on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper found a small plastic bag of cocaine and then discovered plastic-wrapped cash bundles inside a bag in the vehicle's rear area.

DPS Special Agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation.

 The driver, Francisco Lopez, 30, Cicero, Illinois, was arrested and charged with money laundering and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. Lopez was transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The cash was reportedly being transported from Chicago, Illinois, to Phoenix, Arizona.
