Long Term Care Taker Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Elderly San Angelo Woman

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A long time care taker was sentenced on Friday for stealing money from an elderly San Angelo woman.

According to court documents, on Oct. 14, Christina Joy Hollis AKA Christina Watkins, 51, of San Angelo, pleaded guilty to two counts of debit card abuse against an elderly woman.

The alleged incident took place on Mar 16, 2022. On this date Hollis took a 78-year-old woman grocery shopping at the Walmart on Sherwood Way. During the trip the elderly woman told Hollis that she began to feel unwell.

With the oppurtunity Hollis told the lady to go have a seat and that she would take care of the groceries. Once at check out Hollis used the woman's debit card and withdrew an extra $100 in cash. 

Through surveillance the San Angelo Police Department was able to see Hollis take the hundred dollar bill and put it in her left back pocket. 

The elderly woman told police that she had not given Hollis permission to withdraw the $100. Hollis had been assisting the elderly woman with care for the past two years.

Hollis was indicted on two counts of debit card abuse to an elderly woman in Jul. of this year. With her guilty plea Hollis was sentenced to two years of deferred adjudication probation and $715 in restitution.
