UPDATE: Crews Gap Fire Up to 5,000 Acres

 

COLEMAN, TX — The Texas A&M Forest Service is currently battling a major grass fire on the Coleman and Runnels county line. 

According to multiple reports, on Mar. 14 at around 4:30 p.m., firefighters around the surrounding area, as well as the Texas A&M Forest Service, were dispatched to FM 2132 near the Coleman-Runnels county line for the report of a large grass fire.

The initial report of the fire showed that as over 2,500 acres were burned and only five percent of the fire is contained. The fire has been labeled the Crews Gap fire.

As of now no injured have been reported. 

At least one neighborhood has been evacuated because of the fire.

UPDATE 12:22 P.M. 

Per the Texas A&M Forest Service: 

Update: the Crews Gap Fire in Runnels County is an estimated 5,000 acres and 20% contained. The south side of the fire remains active. Crews are working on containment lines across the fire area.
