Suspected Deviant Arrested & Charged with Assaulting a Young Girl at a San Angelo Hotel

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a child in a local hotel in September.

According to court documents, on September 9, 2021, the child victim was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center Hope House. Investigators learned that the child victim had been sexually assaulted on or about September 4, 2021. When asked what the assault consisted of, the victim told investigators that Israel Lopez Guerrero inserted his sexual organ into her sexual organ.

The victim claims to have met Guerrero on August 28, 2021, and when shown a picture of Guerrero, she correctly identified him as the assailant.

The alleged assault took place at the San Angelo Econo Lodge, located at 415 W. Beauregard in San Angelo. Investigators went to the Econo Lodge and obtained surveillance video of the night the assault took place.

The video showed the child victim and Guerrero checking into the hotel around 11:45 p.m. and entering a room on the east side of the Econo Lodge.

Guerrero was arrested on Oct. 6, 2021, and is currently being held on $60,000.00 bond.
