Timberview School Shooter Captured Following 4-Hour Manhunt

ARLINGTON, TX – The Timberview school shooter has been captured following a four-hour manhunt involving FBI, ATF, and DPS.

According to the Arlington Police Department, on Oct. 6, officers with the APD were dispatched to the Timberview High School for the report of a shooting in a classroom.

Once they arrived, the officers secured the school. They quickly determined the shooter, Timothy Simpkins, 18, left the building after the incident in a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger.

While the hunt was on for Simpkins, a reunification center was set up at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts. Timberview HS students were bussed to that location where their Parents were able to pick them up.

"Our thoughts are with the victims, the students, and staff at Timberview High School," stated APD earlier today. "Be assured that APD and all of our law enforcement partners will do everything in our power to bring the suspect to justice."

Students went to social media to shed light on what happened in the classroom.

Others expressed fear.

After around four hours of searching, Simpkins was arrested and booked into the Tarrant County Jail. He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

One of the victims is recovering at the hospital and listed in critical condition. The second victim is listed in good condition. The third victim was treated for minor abrasions and was scheduled to be released this afternoon.

Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement on the shooting.

"As law enforcement continues their investigation, our hearts go out to the victims of this senseless act of violence. Thank you to the law enforcement officers and first responders who arrived on the scene to help the victims and prevent further violence," said Abbott. "I have spoken with the Mayor of Arlington and offered any assistance the state can provide, and I have directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to make state resources available to help bring the criminal to justice. I ask all Texans to join Cecilia and me in praying for the victims, their families, and the entire Timberview High School community."

This was the 17th school shooting in the United States in 2021.
