SAN ANGELO, TX -- On Friday afternoon the San Angelo Police Department confirmed a body had been located in the Concho River near the Celebration Bridge.
According to Sergeant Travis Griffith, at approximately 1:25 p.m. SAPD officers and SAFD firefighters were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from the citizen who spotted a body.
According to Griffith, the incident is being investigated as an unattended death. Officers with the Criminal Investigation Division, Crime Scene Unit, and SAPD Lake Division a working together to determine what led to the death of the individual.

At this time no identifying information has been released regarding the victim. As of right now, the preliminary information suggests that the cause of death could be drowning.
According to Griffith, more information will be released in the coming days.
"This is a tragic loss of life," said Griffith. "Anytime we lose a citizen its terrible, so I ask that we pray for the family."
This is the second drowning-related death that has occurred in the area of the Concho River in the last week.
