San Angelo Police Apprehend Morning Burglary Suspect

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — (SAPD Press Release) Just before 7:30 a.m. this morning, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 300 block of South Irene Street for the report of a residential burglary in progress.  

The caller, a juvenile female, told the dispatcher she was hiding inside a closet and she could hear a person going through her house.  

San Angelo Police Department Detective James Hernandez, who was traveling to work and near the residence when the call went out, quickly responded and observed a male subject running from the residence towards a wooded area.  Simultaneous responding Officers quickly established a perimeter and began searching the area.  Soon after, Officers located the suspect in the wooded area, attempting to conceal himself beneath leaves and branches.  Officers also located a black and white skull face mask on the ground next to the suspect. 

The suspect, identified as Jacob Martinez, 17, was arrested for Burglary of Habitation, a Second Degree Felony.  

The juvenile victim was not injured.  One Officer received minor injuries while extricating Martinez from his heavily thicketed hiding spot.  The Officer was treated for his wounds and resumed his tour of duty.
