San Angelo Police Department to Celebrate National Night Out 2017

SAN ANGELO, TX -- National Night Out will be celebrated in many Texas cities on Tuesday evening, October 3 and is a great opportunity for communities to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

According to San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez, the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination to help make neighborhoods a safer place year round.

Sir Robert Peel, considered to be the father of modern policing once said, “Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

The San Angelo Police Department invites you to attend the nine events scheduled throughout the city.  Turn on your porch lights, lock your doors, and spend the evening outside interacting with friends, neighbors and first responders.  Join the SAPD and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
