.SAN ANGELO, TX — A man in his mid-30s was stabbed at the Quadrangle Apartments, 3425 YMCA Dr., Friday afternoon. San Angelo Police Department spokeswoman Tracy Gonzalez said police were dispatched to the apartments on a report of a fight. When police arrived, they found a stabbing victim but the suspect had fled.
Moments later, police found the suspect, described only as a 31-year-old male on foot near Knickerbocker Rd. and S. Johnson St. Gonzalez said police believe the suspect and victim know each other.

The SAPD Criminal Investigation Division is conducting a thorough crime scene investigation where at least one apartment unit at the Quadrangle is taped off.
The stabbing victim was rushed to an area hospital with what Gonzalez said were non-life-threatening injuries. She confirmed the assault weapon was a knife.
Gonzalez stated that the 9-1-1 caller who was nearby called dispatch to report the fight and may not be a witness to the actual stabbing. Police are looking for witnesses. The incident took place at approximately 4:45 p.m.

A 31-year-old San Angelo man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing that occurred earlier this afternoon at the Quadrangle Apartments located at 3425 YMCA Drive.
Police were dispatched to the complex at approximately 4:46 p.m., initially for the report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 35-year-old man who was suffering from an apparent stab wound. The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Wheeler, fled the scene prior to the officer's arrival. Responding units searched the surrounding area for Wheeler, until he was located walking near Knickerbocker Road and Johnson Street.
The Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and K9 Unit also responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Wheeler and the victim were engaged in an altercation when, at some point, Wheeler obtained a knife and stabbed the victim.
Wheeler was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The suspect and victim reside together.
