Local Sex Offenders Head to Court

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Robert Woodrow Schmidt of San Angelo appeared before the 340th District Judge Jay Weatherby Tuesday afternoon for a pre-trial hearing. The 47-year-old Schmidt is charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography

According to court records, the charges stem from an incident in October of 2016 where Schmidt knowingly possessed visual material depicting a child younger than 18 years of age, at the time of the incident, engaging in sexual conduct. His bond was set at $10,000 for each count for a total of $70,000. He remains in jail and is awaiting a trial date.

At the same pretrial hearing, 28-year-old Howard Alexander Plumley of Ballinger appeared before the judge.  He is charged with online solicitation of a minor.

LIVE! reported on Plumley in early March after he was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. At the time, Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, “throughout February, Street Crimes Division (SCD) established electronic communication with one potential suspect, which resulted in the exchange of illicit photographs and comments with a victim who was being portrayed as a minor child.”

Earlier this year, Plumely responded to a craigslist ad and struck a conversation with a “15-year-old female.” After conversing with the young female for several weeks, Plumley began sending and asking for various pictures. Plumley then began speaking with the young female in a sexual nature and vividly describing sexual desires with the female.

Soon thereafter Plumley asked to meet up to eventually engage in sexual intercourse. Both SCD detctives, who were posing as the young female, and Plumley decided to meet in the San Angelo Community Medical Center parking lot.

There, Gonzalez added,  “[Plumley] was met by SCD detectives who ultimately took him into custody without incident. Plumley was released from the Tom Green County Jail on March 1st after posting a $35,000 surety bond.  Plumley’s trial date is pending.

29-year-old Fabian Garcia Gomez of San Angelo is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault of a family member, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He’s charged with stabbing Gilbert Mascorro on October 12, 2016.  Gomez remains in the Tom Green County jail.  His bond is set at over $73,000 and is awaiting a trial date.

35-year-old Francisco Edwardo Arambula also appeared in Judge Weatherby’s court Tuesday for a pretrial hearing.  According to LIVE!'s Archives, Arambula has been arrested over 30 times (click here for our coverage on his Sexual Assault and Burglary charges, and here for his altercation at a local Denny's).  Arambula was in court this week on two counts of assault of a family member with previous convictions.  Arambula remains in the Tom Green County jail awaiting trial.
