Man Points Gun at Police Officer, Arrested Memorial Day

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Over the Memorial Day Weekend, 101 people were arrested in Tom Green County. Over the three-day weekend 11 individuals were charged with Driving While under the Influence, 11 were also charged with Public Intoxication, 13 people were charged with Possession of Marijuana, and 17 individuals were charged with Driving with License Invalid. 

On Memorial Day, two individuals, Russell Scott Lancaster, 54 and Austin Ray Carpenter, 19, were arrested for Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon. Both charges are categorizes as Second Degree Felonies.  

Carpenter accepted a plea of guilty on Nov. 9, 2016 for the assault with a deadly weapon. The 119th District Court Honorable Judge Ben Woodward issued Carpenter Deferred Adjudication for a seven year probation and fine of $1,000. Carpenter was issued a Motion to Revoke after violating the terms of his probation. An order for his arrest was made on May 3 of this year and he was appointed an attorney on May 15. Carpenter was charged with both Possession of Marijuana and Controlled Substance charge during his memorial day arrest. His is to pay a $61,000 bond. 

Lancaster was indicted by a grand jury in Jan. for his aggravated assault charge after he assaulted a San Angelo Police officer in Oct. of 2016. His charge is categorized as a First Degree Felony. According to Lancaster's indictment, Lancaster pointed a firearm at a San Angelo Police officer and threatened to discharge the weapon. The officer then attempt to arrest Lancaster. Lancaster's bond was set at $50,000 and he was released on Memorial Day after posting bail at 12:35 p.m.

Over the three-day weekend, 50 arrests were made from new complaints, 31 were arrested via arrest warrants and 11 were arrested from both complaints and warrants.
