SAPD Sergeant Thwarts Theft, Arrests Two Thieves

SAN ANGELO, TX - Just after 10:00 p.m. last night, a San Angelo Police sergeant thwarted a theft in progress.

SAPD Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said Sgt. E. Tabone was conducting patrol in the 1100 block of Glenna Street when he observed interior vehicle lights emitting from the G & G Automotive overflow parking area.

She said, "Knowing the business was closed for the evening, Sgt. Tabone investigated the suspicious activity and located two subjects on the property. They were identified as Gabriel R. Perez, 27, and Jose C. Haro, 28, of San Angelo."

He located the pair near items that had been stacked outside an enclosed, gooseneck trailer.

"Following a short investigation, it was discovered the trailer’s locking mechanism had been forced open and the contents removed," said Gonzalez.

She added that Perez and Haro were transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Criminal Trespass and Class A Misdemeanor Theft of Property.  Perez was also booked for an outstanding warrant for State Jail Felony Theft of Property.
