Sheriff Digs for a Body at the Former San Angelo Speedway

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the body of a missing person at the former San Angelo Raceway location northeast of San Angelo on FM 2105.

According to authorities, the case is part of a two-year investigation into the disappearance of a woman. The Sheriff arrested the woman’s husband, Robert Lamar Miller, 45, on March 2. He was charged with murder and theft of property less than $750 in value. He was held in the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of $501,000 in bonds.

Sources tell San Angelo LIVE! that the investigation into the disappearance of Miller’s wife, Naomi, started in 2015 when a wife’s relative reported her missing. Law enforcement found evidence at Robert Miller’s former San Angelo home that led them to believe a body had been hidden there decomposing. Authorities believed the body was moved.

When and where the body was moved, and what Robert Miller did for many years may tie together pieces of the mystery.

Miller attempted to usher in the rebirth of racing at the San Angelo Speedway in the mid-2000s. The local paper heralds the re-introduction of auto racing for the city by Robert in this 2008 article by Paul Harris. By the time of the 2008 article, the reporter introduces us not to Roberts wife Naomi, but to a new couple, Robert and LuDonna Miller. The report states that Robert opened the racetrack in 2006.

Sources tell us that Naomi has been missing since 2006.

The old speedway is now a crime scene as law enforcement digs with a backhoe, searching for Robert’s wife’s body. Here is the location on a map:
