San Angelo Police Locate Meth and More During Santa Rita Traffic Stop

SAN ANGELO, TX - A 48-year-old San Angelo man was arrested for narcotics possession and driving without a valid driver’s license during a traffic stop in a Santa Rita neighborhood yesterday morning, said San Angelo Police.

Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, just before 9:00 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2001 Ford-F150 pickup truck in the 300 block of S. Madison Street.

"The driver, identified as Michael Ray Durst of San Angelo, was arrested after a records check showed Durst’s driver’s license was suspended and that he had a prior conviction for Driving While License Invalid," she explained.

Gonzalez added that during a search of Durst, officers located small baggies that contained suspected narcotics which field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

"During a search of Durst’s vehicle, officers located dark clothing items, latex type gloves, and a flashlight," she said.

Durst was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and booked for Driving While License Invalid with Prior DWLI Conviction and State Jail Felony Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.

They may have just caught the Santa Rita burglar. Drug user, latex gloves, dark clothes and a flashlight will be hard to explain. Hopefully, there is only one causing all the mischief there.
