Body Found on T&P Lake Property Confirmed to be Missing Abilene Mother

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene police is seeking the public's help in finding a missing Abilene mother, Meagan Dearman.

Meagan Dearman, 31, was last seen on January 17, 2017. Her family has not heard from her since. Meagan is described as being 5’3”, and having brown hair and brown eyes.

A missing person investigation is currently being conducted into Dearman's disappearance, and APD is asking for anyone with information to contact the Abilene Police Department at (325) 673-8831.

UPDATE: JANUARY 27, 2017 AT 6:30 p.m.

BAIRD, TEXAS – On the same day as LIVE's report on missing Abilene mother, Meagan Dearman, was published, SWAT teams in Abilene, Texas arrested Justin Bennett, 32, on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the investigation of Dearman. Bennett is currently the only a person of interest, read a press release from the Abilene Police Department.

Since filing the missing report, the APD's Criminal Investigations Division and the Missing Person Response Unit have “worked tirelessly to locate [Dearman],” said Chief of Abilene Police Stan Standridge. He added, “They have seized items of possible evidence, and forensic testing of some electronics is underway.”

Additionaly, the APD’s Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) was used Thursday on the south side of Abilene to look for any evidence of a possible crime.

Sadly, just after 1 p.m. this afternoon, a woman’s body was found on the T&P Lake property in Baird,Texas read a follow-up press release from the Abilene Police Department. CID Detectives, who had previously been working on the missing persons report, were on the scene with the assistance of the Texas Rangers. Abilene police Detective Will Ford said in a statement that “he would not confirm it was the 31-year-old mother until he was 100 percent sure.”

Family of missing Meagan Dearman have been notified of the discovery of the body. Rick Tomlin, of the APD, further stated that police will continue to investigate the missing persons report in addition to assisting the Rangers with the deceased body that was found.
