Illegal Immigrants Throw Contraband Over Eden Detention Center Fence

EDEN, TX - On Saturday, Oct. 15, two illegal immigrants were arrested after throwing contraband over an exterior fence of the Eden Detention Center and leading law enforcement on a brief foot chase.

Concho County Sheriff's Office officials said, at 7:20 a.m., Concho County Dispatch received a call in regards to a suspect throwing contraband over the exterior fence into the secured perimeter of the EDC.

"Deputies responded to the location and found two suspects who had traveled from McKinney, Texas to Eden, where one suspect, Alejandro Pindeda, then threw packages containing cellular phones over the fence and into the secure facility," said officials. "Staff witnessed Pineda throw several taped packages over the fence, and he then fled on foot into the wooded area behind the facility."

CCS officials said after a brief search of the area, Pineda was seen exiting a neighboring property and walking back towards the Eden Detention Center parking lot. He was then arrested on a Border Patrol hold.

The other suspect, Gorgonio Pineda, who was located at the vehicle, was also arrested on a Border Patrol hold and transported to the Runnels County Jail.

Additionally, both suspects will be charged with Prohibited Substances and Items in a Correctional Facility, a 3rd Degree Felony (Texas Penal code 38.11(h)).
