SAN ANGELO, TX - Since our last update, 52 people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail, including 31-year-old Angel Torres.
On August 30, 2016, at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, while conducting a separate felony investigation, located a 2005 Dodge being operated by Torres.
Officials said Torres attempted to drive away but was stopped and detained by the investigators.
“While being detained for identification purposes, investigators observed, in plain sight, a loaded Glock handgun on the front passenger seat,” said TGCSO officials. “The Glock pistol was reported as stolen during a burglary.”
Investigators conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and discovered 1.6 grams of methamphetamine. The vehicle operated by Torres had also been reported stolen earlier in the day to the San Angelo Police Department.
Torres was arrested and transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1>=1G<4G, a third degree felony, and Theft of a Firearm, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $15,000 on each charge.

Including Torres, 19 people were arrested on new criminal complaints, 29 on outstanding warrants, and 4 people had both new complaints and warrants.
