Suspects Hold Family at Gunpoint During Home Invasion in Southwest San Angelo

At approximately 10:30 p.m. last night, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Lindenwood Drive for a shots fired call. Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for SAPD, said the caller told officers a gunshot was heard in the area. While responding to investigate the shots fired call, a second call came in stating a family had been held at gunpoint in their home.

Solsbery stated officers made contact with 25-year-old Chelsea Middaugh and 24-year-old Krysta Bowie at Middaugh’s residence. Middaugh and Bowie reported they were in a bedroom watching television when several males wearing dark clothing and masks entered the bedroom and pointed guns at them.

“The male subjects stole several items from the residence while holding the victims at gun point,” said Solsbery.

After the suspects left, Middaugh called her husband, Jamie Vivian, 28, who was at work. Vivian left work to go home and witnessed several males in dark clothing near Parkview and Lindenwood Dr. Vivian confronted the male subjects, and during the confrontation, one of the male subjects pointed a gun at Vivian and fired at him. Luckily, Vivian wasn’t injured. The male subjects, however, ran away.

Solsbery added that additional officers arrived in the area, set up a perimeter and began their search for the suspects. One of the men was located near Sunset Dr. and Knickerbocker Rd. While officers attempted to take him into custody, the suspect actively resisted arrest. Officers were able to get control of the suspect, and identified him as a 14-year-old male.

During a search of the juvenile, officers found stolen property from the home invasion on his person. They also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the area where the juvenile was taken into custody. The 14-year-old was transported to Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center where he was charged with Burglary with Intent to Commit a Felony, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.

Unfortunately, we were not provided with the "how" they entered into the home. We will, however, provide updates as we receive them.
